Herbie Hancock
« on: December 09, 2013, 04:58:00 PM »
I just found out that he is a Kennedy Center Honoree this year.  I guess the scope of his talents far exceed "Rockit".  Ignorant me was like, "that song wasn't THAT good".   ;D ;D

I've got some homework to do.

I prefer Chameleon

i just like the bass line super simple but teaches the relationship between a bass player and the drummer.

Man Herbie Hancock is a heavy cat. Rockit was was just away to put some easy money in his pocket. But the real Herbie Hancock is a bad man.

Me too!  Whew, indeed!
Herbie is AMAZING.  I've never seen him live, but I've seen videos.  Good googly moogly, this cat can play.

Thanks for that gtrdave. I've heard that song before but never knew the story behind it or composers.  Good stuff.

Yeah, I'd never heard the story either. I figured it was from the movie of the same name from back in the '70s.  ;D
Turns out, it's got nothing to do with the movie and I dig how something so common in his everyday life could inspire such a cool song.
