...there are a lot of great kits you can buy.

...Do you need the kit, hardware and cymbals?  The shells alone??  What is it you need?

...check thy PM's.

...man, the Sonor 2007 is a very nice kit.  Not too many people carry it do to the distributers but they look and sound like they're a lot more than what you'd pay for one.  :o

Ay Yamaha has the Birch Stage Customs. I played one and its sounds nice ;) The Stock heads could be better but those can always be changed.

I also messed around on the Vision and that is a really nice kit as well. Clear Tones, The Toms Cut really well. They are easy to tune too! :)

PDPX7-Easy Pass For me :( They should have kept the Oak Shell instead of switching to Poplar shells

M Birch Sounds Great!:

The Sonor- I haven't heard it yet.

Gonna buy a new kit this weekend im working with $1000 what sounds good? I was checkin out yamah tour custom maple kit. but with $1000 i have alot of options.

Yamaha Stage Custom BIRCH - 4-piece rock set-up 24"x17" kick, 12"x9", 16"x16", 14"x6"steel snare. $699 shell pack for the 4 or 5-piece shell pack at guitar Center. Evans coated G2s, EMAD 2 and (DO NOT CUT A HOLE IN THE FRONT HEAD!). These are recording read after that. External mic the kick with an Audix D6 for live performances. Check Interstate Music as well for good pricing on these kits.

I played these earlier in the week at Guitar Center and was totally blown away. One of the best kits I have ever heard. Definitley the best for the price. Closely followed by the Pearl Visions VSX though I suggest the new Visions VBX 100% Birch. Memphis Drum Shop offering the VBX with free 8" and hardware plus Pearl rack for $1200 or 1299.

Tama Superstar is another good sound kit Birch/Basswood. That 22"x20 virgin kick is the truth even with the stock single-ply head. $899 with hardware for 5-piece at Memphis Drum Shop... they will ship it anywhere in U.S.

...I'm pretty sure this kit will be used at a church sir.  I don't think the thread starter will be playing with a Metallica Cover Band anytime soon.  :D ;D ;D ;D

Ah Sir, this is a standard size 4-piece kit. "rock" is just the label flava of the month these days. Russ Miller uses a 24" all day. Quite a few jazz greats have been known to as well.

Besides that folk need to learn how to pick the best gear. 24" kick has more thump and low end and more projection more tonality. More projection means folk don't as hard or loud to be heard. This is great when you are in un-mic'd situations as well as mic'd. If you use the EMAD there is no need for any more muffling... so no blankets required.

At any rate... my recommendation stands for the urban market for solid gear, great sound that stands out from the crowd. Sleep if you want to.
