Are you planning on getting the XS8?
The Motif XS8 cost $3200, So What I would do is get a new Yamaha MO8, a used triton 61, and a used XP-80 and you would still have money left over for a new roland amp. Face it, you need to play on something with wieghted keys, and you probaly need something light-weight to travel with. The MO8 Has most of the sounds as the Motif, and you can still have a wide variety of sounds with the other boards. Or if dont have a lot of room, you can just get a MO8 and a triton Module. Unless you are really into synths, I dont think that The XS8 is worth twice as much as the MO8

I really dont know what you are gonna be using them for so its hard to make suggestions

So the Triton is better for synths (except for the strings ) ,and the Motif for real sounds? Because until now , I'm looking forward to buy a Motif....Unless the Triton sounds more realistic...

The Strings are better on the Triton.  The Bass guitar is better on the Triton, but the Accoustic Guitars are better on the Motif.

For me the pianos are the most important thing in a primary board.

When you're looking for a PRIMARY board, what good is it without quality pianos?   :-\

A-men. In the past I've owned a Triton Rack. And its piano/rhodes sounds were no match for my Yamaha S90, they were too muddy and dark. If you are planning to use this board in a church, you'll probably want something that 'cuts through' and is very sharp.

Now, with a Triton you can always load samples and edit the sounds - but I'd rather have something that works out of the box and spend time on my craft, rather than my board  ;D.

i honestly feel that any keyboard you go with wouldnt be a bad choice well out of the triton fantom and motif i personally own the motif but the only reason i got it is cuz i bought it used for 400$ i like the fantom because the clavs are sick hahaha and the drum pads make sequencing drum beats a little easier for me but go play on um what ever you get a good feeling about just buy it hahaa

Man I had a triton le 88 that was my first keyboard the piano sounds were good in it to me but i think it was the 88 keys the feel made it sound better the i had a trition studio and the same piano sounds on the studio were bad well the pianos were i have the trition and the motif i bring the trition to church most of the time because my church has a digital piano all ready and a organ so i sit the trition on top of the organ i use the motif when my church goes to a guest church or a event were they want nice background music overall i would go with the motif cuz the quality of the sounds are better they took the time to get every nuance of the sound your  playing whether its the flute, sax, piano, rhodes, the bass, the sounds are sick period lol anyways if your looking for quality go with the motif if you look for easy of use go with triton realtime tweaking, motif. A lot of people on LGM be hatin' on the triton though i think the triton is more powerful that the motif my opinion but overall the motif is better. The only way you will know is to try them yourself!

The Triton has one of the BEST Strings voices I've heard on any board EVER.

I think it's called SyrupyStrings.  Unbelievable.

Syrupysynthstrings is truly niceeeeeeeee for real.

Yes indeed.  I FINALLY got my MO8 last week, and I went through all the Strings in the string category and couldn't find anything remotely close to that voice.

Hmmm.  A TR61 might be a good compliment to my MO8.  I'll have to check out Sam Ash or Guitar Center to test one out.

My friend just sold her triton rack for $500. That probaly woulda been good for you, unless you plan on taking the korg to gigs and stuff.

A rack would be preferrable.  Do they still MAKE Triton Racks?

I dont think so. Even if they do, they never carry it in the stores, its always special order. (cuz they make more money off the boards)

But check out Craigslist. My girl reluctantly lowered her price to 500, as that seems to be the going rate.

What about some kinda computer synth?
