EASTER SPEECHES....DOWN MEMORY LANE!
« on: March 21, 2008, 09:04:43 AM »
I was going back down memory lane this morning trying to remember some of my past Easter speeches (I guess I’m mad I can’t say one this year at age 35…LOL)!  Do you remember any of yours?

1)       (age 5 and 6) Christ arose on Easter Day.  That is all I have to say!

2)       (age 12) Good news!  Good news!  For you and for me!  Jesus arose and He lives!  Don’t you see?  Let’s tell it to others, so they too may know of the wonderful Savior who loves us all so!

3)       (age 3) Happy Easter Day everybody!

4)       (age 7) What you lookin’ at me for?  I just came to say I hope everybody has a happy Easter day!

Reflecting on past speeches also reminds me of the AWESOME occasion that we now celebrate!  Hopefully it will do the same for you!

Have a Happy Easter Everybody!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

As soon as I was able to talk I would say;

               Happy Easter!     ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

This one is a classic and always cracks up the congregation;

I had a little Easter egg
I put it in a cup,
But on the way to Sunday School
I stopped and ate it up. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just remember this one no age;

I am too little to preach or teach,
For that I'm much too small,
But I'm not too little to say to you
Happy Easter one and all ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Being from the South Easter was a Sunday when  Er'ry one was in a new outfit from head to toe, even the grown folks got new stuff.  Then we'd have a big Easter egg hunt on the playground.  Each family had to bring so many eggs and the deacons would go out and hide them.

Which brings me to a question I have ALWAYS wanted to ask since being a child...

WHAT EVER HAPPENS TO THE ONE THAT NOBODY FINDS?  Because when it's time to lock the church up and go home, they lock up and go home!!!  LOL!

Easter would ot be Easter without this...........

I didn't come round here to stay,

I just came to say,

Happy Easter Day!!!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Lil' Darryl

I would have to say my most vivid Easter memory was whne I was about 5 or 6.  My mother bought me a white suit with a silk-like shirt that had a pattern that was popular at that time.  I also had some beginner platform shoes or "stacks" as I called them.    This was in the 70's yall.  Anyway, I remember everybosy telling me, "Boy you're sharp today!"  After church they had the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Now this is when I got rugged and raw.  Us children battled each other to get that golden egg.  Anyway, I racked up on eggs, but no golden egg.  One it was over, I ruined those white pants from kneeling on the ground.  My mother was so mad.  But I didn't understand why.  I was just happy to have my eggs.  I'm sure that my son will pay me back once he's old enough for Easter Egg Hunts, and his mother or I has dressed him in the flyest gear imaginable.

So, you remember the white suits too?

How long did you keep yours clean?

By the time they made it to the Easter Egg Hunt, my white suit was almost BROWN!!! LOL!

Till the end of church THAT day.  I ruined it.  Couldn't wear it anymore.

Scuff marks from the soles of your shoes would NOT come out, so mom just had to throw that suit away...ONLY TO BUY ANOTHER WHITE ONE NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is why I don't wear white suits to this day!

That was my first and last white suit.  Moms learned her lesson.

All I can remember is not being able to remember my speech. I was always nervous and anxious.

And don't forget the kid that would never know his/her speech.

Umm,  aahh, ummm (mama over to the side would coach  "look")

(Kid) um, ahh, umm  look, ah, ah um um (mama over to the side saying "look at me")

(kid) um, um ahh, ahh, look at me, aum, umm, ahh
you get the picture, he/she would um and ah til they mama had to tell them every word of their speech.
