I think an advanced drummer is a person that knows and has studied the history of their craft. Some one who can lock it in the pocket and at the same time deliver licks that can blow your mind. They seem to have their own style of play, taking what they've learned from others and putting their own twist on it and people look forward to seeing them play because they know that something new and different is probably going to be brought to the table and not just licks but solid placement on whatever they're doing. They know how to play the type of music, and they know how to bring the music out and play with the band. For example they dont play Rock like its R&B or they know how to play fusion like it's fusion and not like it's jazz or straight gospel. They're always called upon to play with people and they have something special that you can't find in your average drummer.
Intermediate I think are drummers like myself who are still searching for their identity on the kit. Usually the pockett is solid, and they have some hot licks, and people do look forward to hearing them play. I think in terms on studying we have a lot to learn about the history and at the same time we still have different drummers to incorporate into their playing style. Also I think intermediate drummers are still being shaped in to discipline and complete rhythmic machines. Personally I know I'm more intermediate because I feel as if I have so much to learn about drums as far as technique and how to play in different settings, and different genres as well.
Begginers I think are drummers who are just starting out or maybe even have been playing for a while, who really dont know much about drums. They probably have alot of drummers to research and incorporate into their playing style, and they have to develope a style of play as well. I think this is when pockett is established, along with discpline, tempo control, and an overall understanding of what they're playing.
Just my two cents...I hope this helps
