Word of Faith movement favorite scripture Mark 11:23
« on: May 11, 2014, 03:13:46 PM »
Hi guys? Why in the Word Of Faith movement that they use this scripture that says in Mark 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

Now this is what I'm trying to understand, what was Jesus referring too when he said, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. This scripture is the Word of Faith movement favorite scripture. And they often say that if you believe what you say it shall come to pass and you shall whatsoever you say. So if I been saying I'm blessed and highly favored blah...blah....blah and saying I have life or I'm debt free or some other foolishness. But now the word of faith movement says what the scripture actually says what it clearly says, but does this believing what you say shall come to pass and you shall have what you say stuff really work? Now I'm not saying I don't believe the Bible (and that could be further from the truth) but what I'm saying is for someone to enlighten me on this particular subject. What was Jesus actually referring too that so many people have took this scripture out of context.

Jesus drove the money changers from the temple in the scriptures just before Mark 11:23. The word of faith people tend to read only part or parts of a scripture to prove their point that you can use Jesus as a spiritual slot machine. You ask a very good question. I'm not sure either. All I know is that The gospel is Christ crucified. Romans 6, 7, 8, 9 And I'm pretty sure that Jesus didn't come down here to tell people how to make a buck.
