quick question. what is the difference btween the 2 chord and the 9th chord of a major scale? if G is the 2 in F and also the 9th we should jus play the Gminor chord and just call it the 2 right?

The 2 and the 9th are the same chord. Just repeats itself.

A 9th chord includes a major7th or dom7th note.

CM9 - C E G B (major 7) D
Cm9 - C Eb G Bb (dom7th) D
C9 - C E G Bb (dom7th) D

The 2 chord is built on the 2 of any key.

A 9th chord can be formed from any chord, just add the 7th and 9th scale degrees.

From your question and D's answer, u can say the 9th chord in this case is an extension of the 2 chord.
