That first joint never gets old.  I think if you look and listen carefully, you can hear and see everything you hear cat's doing today being played even back then...particularly in Vinnie's and Gadd's playing.  A lot of that hand and foot stuff and the kinda abstract syncopation and over the bar line stuff was being done even way back then.  Nice post...thanks for takin' me back.

I enjoyed what Dave and Steve were doing. When I was watching Steve's movements on the kit, I was kinda reminded of the Stacey Lamont Syndor clip until I watched dude's clip again and really took in Stacey's movements and realized how unnecessary his movements really were.
