Does anyone still play like this?

The question is, does anyone play in that Mahalia Jackson style? My pastor would like me to learn this style. There are a number of vids of Mahalia on youtube.com; check out one I have posted below. This style has a lot of layers to it. I cannot begin to think of how to learn it as I am still learning basic songs. (Note I wasn't sure where to post this- so it is posted a few places)
Additional questions:
1. What is the name of that piano style?
2. What are the basic patterns or progressions used in this style
3. What are the basic scales used (like I would understand the answer!)
Mahalia Jackson (Piano emphasis):

"Didn't It Rain, Children"

"Joshua Fit the Battle Jericho"

"How I Got Over" (see, 3:45++)
Two People trying to play Mahalia (they did okay, what do u think?):

Thanks Musallio. Someone answered the question in the "General Music Hangout" message board, here's the link:

I think the first guy was playing a bit off key- but he had good general direction. Anyway, check out the additional links posted. They show some boogie woogie links as the basis of this gospel style. However, I think boogie woogie/blues got its roots from this style, rather than the contrary explanation (to be quite frank)!

Ooh, thank you. I had "This Little Light of Mine"; but the others are a great addition. If you or anyone else has anymore, then please post. The Mahalia songs are hard to translate to a general congregation song.

It's a kind of blues feel using the 1-4-1-6-2-5-1 patterns. I can play that style since my father still uses it.
