Elvin and Tain are the two cats that have influenced me the most in my jazz playing. The way he pushed and pulled the time in the music was ill. It might have been boring to your homies because they didn't understand the music. If you really want to dig into Elvin, pick up John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. His playing on there is at a premium for sure. Respect the old school.
Yeah I guess they just don't get it yet. But I can understand because there was a time I thought that jazz drummers were boring, but the more and more you listen, the more and more you understand where they are coming from and the more fascinating the playing becomes. And Juse good looks, I'll definitely be coppin that Coltrane joint. GB
You got it dude. If you have any questions about jazz, just hit me up. I'll be more than willing to share some things with you.... And anyone else on the board for that matter.
