I saw this cat on youtube and the solo is so tasteful and musical to me.  I really enjoy it.  Check it out.  Not sure if no one has placed it on here.

That was much better than the previous clips someone posted about him. That was HOTTTTTT!

Check him out playing Ushers' "You Don't Have To Call"...  (notice the Roland SPD-S sampler anyone?)

I believe they said his name at the end of the solo..something like Naquish..Sabe mentioned something like he did something with Usher..I hope i did not interpret that wrong.. Stay Blessed, Nate J.

NO he didn't do anything with Usher. His band was performing anUsher song, "You Don't Have To Call":

Tight Post....dude on set is Marquis..he and his brother are crazy musicians...His brother is the light skinned dude playing on keys ..This group has been together for a few years now..They started out doing gospel but switched over..still tasteful with it , though. I believe Marquis is around 19 ..They all went to performing arts schools and grew up together..Must be nice to have a full horn section!

BTW...Dude on bass 'Lawrence' is as nuts as they come lol..He usually plays with his shoes off and will break out into a dance right in the middle of the show...If you're ever in Detroit, check em' out in a city by the name of Royal Oak..They usually perform every weekend.

regarding the first video posted in this thread, the section of the video that gets me that i play over and over is 1:23 to 1:40.  the rolls on the snare and toms are sweet, but the way he comes out of the tom and kick combo into the cymbals is really nice.  Back to the shed for me :).

His name is Marquise Johnson. I've known his family all my life. His father is an excellent organist. Most of the primary members in the group are brothers and cousins. They grew up in Detroit. They are members of a church in Belleville, MI about a 40 minute drive from Detroit.

Is this the same Marquis Johnson that did a solo that someone put a clip on here where he was getting the crowd hyped...using crowd involvement during his solo.. I believe this Marquis Johnson has played with someone that I can't think of right now.. Now that I think of it.. He has been featured on someone's clip on here before... Stay Blessed, Nate J.
