When palying congregational songs, how do you modulate/ or what's the key to modulatiing a song? Songs for example as "I'm A Soldier in the Army of the Lord".

Most modulations are a half step up. so if you are in the key of c, c# would be the modulation. this is the pattern all the way. Transpose is the easy way, but modulating without the transpose is better,

My suggestion for an easy way to modulate from anywhere to anywhere is to play the 4 chord with the 5th in the bass of the key you are going to, then play 1. Here are some examples:
From C to C#
C / G-C-E (old key)
G# / F#-A#-C# (modulation chord)
C# / E#-G#-C# (new key)
From Eb to A
Eb / Bb-Eb-G (old key)
E / A-D-F# (modulation chord)
A / A-C#-E (new key)
From F# to F
F# / A#-C#-F#
C / Bb-D-F
F / A-C-F
That is how I modulate to other keys.
