As someone (I believe it was BBoy) stated, Jesus is God

That was me and other than you I think everyone just glanced past my posts

I apologize, good brother. And, what you stated (after rereading it) is, I believe, exactly what Peach's church needs in order to begin thinking outside the box.

By the way, what's good?  :D

Here's a thought ( I'm a woman so pls pardon the intrusion) Pray about the men in your fellowship. Ask God to show you the one's who match an element of the characters you will portray and match them up accordingly. For instance, say you havea part as Jabez, who was the least of all his brethren. He prayed a simple prayer and God honored his request. Now look amongst the men you will be working with and find someone  who is "the least" maybe now as brassy as the others but willing to work and honest. PUt him in that role. Get what I'm saying?

My thoughts exactly Jonathan, so many people separate the One TRUE GOD into 3 separate GODS when it is ONE GOD that is Omnipitant larger than we can conceive that takes many forms to minister to us.

I'll PM you of what's up...

King Inside of Me?  HUH?

Never heard it but sounds like it might be crucial to the production.  Please let me know where/how I can get it.

Thanks.

See you're so busy listening to Dianne Williams that you haven't had time for anything else.

You're doing a production for and about men, get the He-motions CD from TD Jakes.

Well, you kinda just messed that up for me Jonathan.

See, Pastor is a traditionalist (like I've said a billion times) and feels like "some ministers whose choirs record CD's and have sold-out conferences" are nothing but good motivational speakers who tell people what they want to hear and offer them some type of comfort for doing things that aren't spiritual.  I DID NOT SAY I FELT THIS WAY, BUT HE IS THE PASTOR - SO PLEASE DO NOT JUMP ON ME FOR THAT COMMENT.

When I taught the choir "His Mercy Endureth Forever", it was the most beautiful thing since sliced bread.  Then, we did a concert and I narrated and told the audience who recorded it and WHAT DID I DO THAT FOR?  I got questioned big time about what I'm trying to "bring into the church".  First people come to church doing "the holy ghost dance"....then a few visitors show up and start "speaking in tongues"....then "you have a woman preacher come in here to MC a program"....now you wanna teach the choir music by "the good motivational speaker whose name I shall not call so I won't get jumped on".

This is the kind of thing I have to deal with...and I'm trying to open my granddaddy's eyes and the church's as well!  It's a hard fight but my helmet is made of steel!

Yea, there's some stuff that, if you aren't asked, you need not share. And, I'd rather "just a good motivational speaker", then to be bored to death with tradition like what's happening at your church.

What bothers me most is that some other Memphis churches who were much more die-hard traditionalists than my folks have stepped it up a notch....WE ARE STILL THERE!

But there are signs everywhere that the people in our church want a change (well, about 25% of us, anyway).  The question is how?

He asked me to do men of the bible...and of course I will...that's my granddaddy for goodness sake...why wouldn't I?  But what I will want to introduce the people to is something new....say for instance a church where men praise God with no shame!?  Some people still believe that men are not supposed to "get happy in church" and they are DEACONS!

LEAVING is the easy way out, but I keep wondering what if there is something God wants me to see and experience and what if I am one of the instruments he is using to bring about a change?  If it's not in His will for me to leave and go to a church that "does the things I like", then I am stepping way out of line.  So again I say, I'm torn.

But you guys have given me some foundation to work from and I'm sure it will be good.......thanks!

Peach it sounds like you need a fo-real Holy Ghost experience.  So many churches caught in tradition have used Corinthians to forbid people from operating in the Spirit when it actually gives freedom to operate in the Spirit.  Your church wouldn't like me up in there, not only would I be some big ole white guy but I'd be praising in tongues as well.

An example of this is I sat in on a class the pastor was teaching new members and this particular sister who just joined our church was a church mother that had grown up in church and she was probably around 60 years young at this point.  I happened to bring up the last sunday service to the pastor and how I was worshiping in tongues while playing on the keyboard and he celebrated with me...

The sister was like, I thought you couldn't speak in tongues without an interpretation.

That opened up a door for me to minister to her and had it just been me some 34 year old she would have just let it go through one ear and out the other.  But my pastor was in Full agreement with me and she was receiving the message.  Now keep in mind this is a Baptist church but some are trying to get it out of tradition.

She has a new outlook on the gifts now and she said she feels cheated out of a blessing for all those years stuck in tradition.

She hasn't received the baptism of the Holy Ghost yet but she is growing spiritually and I'm sure she will achive that soon.

I really like that Deacon Stephens character.  Instead of defending himself, he gave an Old Testement schooling to the Sanhedrin, a very harsh one at that.  Of course, they HAD to stone him.

As far as Jesus, people WILL erroneously be offended if you don't put him in.  Yet, by putting him in, you're reducing Him to being just a man of faith.  Like someone said earlier, Jesus IS God.  Believe it or not, a lot of church people haven't accepted that yet, not even realizing that the whole Bible spells that out.

What about Stephen (who was stoned)

Thanks man, I was just about to mention the Story of Stephen in Acts, reason being was he was a normal person, not as high in rank as peter and Paul, but had a very powerful story in the end and Jesus was made manifest in his life that people could see, I love that story and What about that Guy, I think his name was Achaias, where his daughter is dead and Jesus bring hers back to life, and he is one of the the synogogue leaders, I cant find the reference yall, my family got my bible   :x    ( I just moved to my dorm) but its the same story where the women is healed of her issue of blood, but if you look closely in the story of Achaias, then you might see why I mentioned Him, If not, even consider Jonah, who ran away from his call, but he eventionally did what the lord told him to do, cause his call involved alot of people and MINISTRY, which is a very important and essential part of today's mens lives, them struggling with the things God tells them to do, because they are so big and are great undertakings, Imagine how you would feel if God told you to do, What God told Jonah to do, A great undertaking and Its a blessing that he realized that he needed to talk with God in the belly of a fish( I guess now thats what makes him a great "fisher of men" lolololol          ) just kidding, but thats cool, maybe you could include  a character for the young men as well, try the story about the boy Who had 2 fish and five loaves of bread, think about... those thousands of people would have not been fed, if it wasnt for that little boy giving that seed to jesus, his own little lunch, and yet God used that to expand to thousands people, that story could be used as well if you want, cause young men need to know that God can Usethem too! IM going to come back if I think of some more, I Love Ideas for plays, you know why? (my mom boggles my mind up for her plays all the time so, Im used to these insightful requests lol      ) I hope this helps a little though, oh yeah Im going to try and find the story on that religious leader whos daughter was risen from the dead cause I want to learn more about that one   hit me

The Deacon who is President of the "I Hate Herman" club and the one who initiated the whole "He can't be Minister of Music and on payroll because he's Pastor's grandson", and the co-signer of the "why pay a recording artist to sing for God when people are supposed to do that for free" campaign......would be perfect for Stephen!  And I'd be the perfect stoner!

LOL, Naw not really, cause Stephen didnt deserve those stones, but it sounds to me that your deacon here DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel sorry fah dat deacon, who is probably going to eagerly sign up for dat part and perform, cause people seem to aim(herman ) very well when there's a perfect target (deacon) hahahahahahah, dont hurt him toooo bad man dont hurt him tooooo bad
but do it for the people that have the same problem :D          :D  when it comes to putting great functions together, and you got haters trying to put salt on a already seasoned saint, U HEARD ME? lol I want to see dat, but of course this is spoken from an enraged teen so dont mind me 8)  8)  8)  hahahah this is sweet and funny, is it what you call psycho babble?  that term is fresh and sweet...........

I guess I'll have to order He-motions online from Bishop Jakes directly.  Nowhere I went in Memphis had it.

Even in my sleep last night, GOD kept my mind focused on "Men After God's Own Heart".

Of course, after rehearsal tonight.....the question dropped in my spirit...what does it mean to be a man after God's own heart?

I think that is where the production should start...with the question and its answer....followed by some examples of men who did whatever it took to please God....even when it meant forsaking family, friends, and giving up other things to follow Him and do His will.

Of course, that idea is somewhat personally motivated because the men in our church don't do anything nor do they care about anything.  As men, we are supposed to be leaders and you would think that in CHURCH seeking to please God no matter what would be our main priority....and in our daily lives (but especially in the church).

SIDE NOTE:  The two Coke machines in the fellowship hall stayed EMPTY from the end of October until last Saturday.  None of the men with the key took the initiative to replenish the Coke machine!  Something so simple....and there are about 4 men with keys!  I am not one of them, but that didn't stop me from going to the store, buying some Cokes....asking my granddaddy to let me use his key....and doing it myself!  I'm not a Deacon!

Today, the male chorus had rehearsal at 6pm.  I left the church at 6:20 after doing the programs for tomorrow, and there were two men present for rehearsal.  I came back around 7:40 to make additional copies of some materials for the play, and the church was empty!  Did they just have a quick rehearsal....or did they just not care to show up knowing that tomorrow is their Sunday to sing!?

:roll no wonder there's such a power struggle, it appears there is lack of dedication on their part, and their oblivious to their purpose and duty in the church, and the rehearsal thing!?!?!? dont get me started lol...... thats a little on the ridiculous side  , If I had someone in my church like you(itsallpeach) putting so many great things together and being a key asset in the church I probably,

Would have gone all out my way to make sure little trivial things like the coke machine being filled up was done, JUST so you wouldnt have to do it 8O I think that is kind of unfair as well, Maybe they do need to see a play so these men can become workers of the church and doers of word... just me speakin my mind lololololol
Be blessed man, oh yeah im still thinking k?
