I have been looking at the posts and see so much that I want to respond to, but, first, if anyone is reading from southern Ohio and would like to assist with music ministry in any form (choir, director, musician) please reply.
Second, we are facing such apathy and lack of interest (in the church) in this area and I think it is a national epidemic. Only people of a certain generation seem to be dedicated anymore. The younger people (teens) haven't seen church glorified in music videos and so, I guess, until they do...we will not see them in church.
A change is definitely gonna have to come before we see more people, young and old in church. When that change comes, I hope it is permanent , and that we never return to an era where everything is cool BUT the church.
