Hey LGM:

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who knows of a good song-writing website, book, some tips, etc. The Lord has put some a song or two in my heart.

Thanks for the help,
Jonathan

:D Praise the Lord!!!!! The main thing is to keep God close to you. I have this group called Anointed Voices. I write most all the music. The songs are from the Lord. We are workin on our cd all the summer. It should be out by the end of the summer. Please pray for Anoited Voices and I'll pray for you. Stay encouraged. Oh, make sure that when your songs are on paper that you have proof that they came out of you. May God bless you! :D  8)

I don't know of a good web site or book on the subject, but what do you need to know?

I'm looking for same kind of thing that there is here at LGM. Some rules or theory for voicing....well, voices.

I hope that makes sense.

Well as far as writing there are basic rules but the main one is that There are no rules, you are a creator God is using you to get a message out. when people come to me with lyrics with out music, its most of the time in some kind of rythm but not totally. as a producer\ musician, I take what they have and play out chords ruff draft which then gives us some sort of feel\flavor. if this is what the writer is looking for then we go with it, and add around it. Some times you can use other songs to map the feel\flavor your lookin for....I hope this helps also:  sing it on out and record it on something so that you dont forget it....

It can be tedious with trying to ryme and think of lyrics sometimes, it comes to you fast and sometimes you have to put the pad down for a while and something will hit you in the middle of the night (as a writer, you got to get up and write it down cuz chances are you wont remember it in the morning.......sometimes you get the hook first some times you get the verses there is no wrong way what ever motivates you plus staying in the word.... I ran my mouth enough I'll holla
No Wpn frmd shll prspr bcz grtr iz He tht iznme

I appreciate that Cbanks. That's where I am now, I've got this one song and I have a verse, and maybe a vamp. Only thing is, I'm growing as a musician, so I can hear what I'd like but I can't come close to playing it; and I don't want someone trying to take credit for something that God gave me for His people. (I hope that makes sense)

Be Blessed and thanks again. Keep any ideas coming, folks!

Myself as well I've been doing production in the secular (hip hop R&B) doing beats, which isnt the hardest music in the world, it just had to be hot.....
when I got saved and started learning gospel, its been 2 years and God is doing some things, the chords are way more intracate, and I was having a hard time at first but my ear is devloping and thats my testimonie how God allowed me to gain all this knowledge working in studios and writing and producing then turned my life around to use for his glory (the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the rightous)...I just want to encourage you to keep doing yo thing and the chords will come to you....Be Blessed
