"God is Good" - Regina Belle   :)

Maybe some Take 6 and In-a-Way material may help considering they're acapoco bands anyway.  ;)

Some good songs in this thread.
The Take 6 clip is more vocal jazz than gospel. Nice, but beyond a choir's typical 3-4 part harmony. 5-6 parts, probably...

If my choir sings acappella we usually go old school and change up the melody and parts.
We did Great is thy faithful, It is well and What if God is unhappy by Christopher Brinson.

My concert chorus song this in high school! I use to love that song!
We didn't do it acapoco though! LOL

I also loved when we did, "Lift Him Up"
Lift Him up above the moon
above the stars
above Jupiter and Mars.

Oh... Um... I don't know many acapella songs! lol

I like that one.  Doesn't seem too difficult, either.

I Love You So
By: ???

Chorus
I love you so and I’m never gonna let you go
Holding on to your hand
Though sometimes I don’t understand
Tears I cry night and day
But I’m gonna trust you anyway
Because you love me and I love you too

Verse 1
Been in church all my life
Sometimes all I find is strife
Thought I’d have friends until the end
Sometimes alone is all I’ve been
Tears I cry night and day
But God has always made a way
Because He loves me and I love Him too

Repeat chorus

Verse 2
I lost my job after 14 years
It left me living in fear
Didn’t know how to pay my bills
But in His word He said keep still
Tears I cry night and day
But God has always made a way
Because He loves me and I love Him too

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3
Lost my home family and job
And my life is so very hard
I tried my best to stand the test
Then God came and gave me rest
Tears I cry night and day
But God has always made a way
Because He loves me and I love Him too

For good A capella songs, you can always take hymns and arrange them.  Also, there is the whole concept of slowing down a popular song and singing it rubato style.

Total Praise is one.  Others include Perfect Praise, Lift Up Holy Hands, etc.

rubato - (Italian) - An important characteristic of the Romantic period. It is a style where the strict tempo is temporarily abandoned for a more emotional tone.
Otherwise expressed, liberty is taken with the beat according to the intent of the conductor to emphasis text or feeling.
