Title: Piano keyboard superimposed on the top of the screen?
Post by: Casioman on August 29, 2008, 02:47:03 PM
1. Could anyone tell me how to get a piano keyboard superimposed on the top of the screen, like in this video?
2.How do you display the notes pressed in different colors? I know its some kind of midi setup, but I'm not sure how the rest is done.

Thanks in advance.

I"ve never tried to do it but its probably done by capturing the playing in a midi file (as you record), then you can just use a program like Van Brasco and do a Picture in Picture and sync everything up.

Thanks for your insight 4hisglory, What you have suggested sounds logical, any recommendations on any video software that supports Picture in Picture?

I would suggest you drop people who use that application an email.
eg, Jamal, just drop "Gospelmusician" an email..he should explain how it's all done.

Hope that works.

I'm doubtful if it can be done with VBasco, but hopefully they can upgrade it to that level.

Im the creator of this video. I used garage band for the keys. You can use any light up program for the display. The screen capture program I use is called Snapz, and the video editing software I use in Final Cut. This is all Macintosh. When you picture in picture your video, you have to make sure frames rates match, otherwise the keys will start to drift off after about 4 minutes into the video. It took a while for me to get it right with all the of settings. If you have any questions, let me know.
