I love Zildjian 5a sticks. I used to by Promarks, but they to skinny and break very easily. I also used to by Vic Firth sticks, but I like the Zildjians the best. And I disagree that they don't last long. I got sticks that have lasted as much as 4 months. It all depends on how you play with them. I play pretty hard, but I don't use all my stregnth. Some people try to play so hard that they break the stick and the heads of the drums. If you hit the drum in a certain way, you don't need much strength to make a loud sound.

T-Block if i offended u i'm sorry. it has just been my experience with Zildjian that they don't last long. i'm not knocking any1 who uses them thats why i wa trying 2 gather info on what other drummers thought. besides i do a lot of rim shots so maybe thats why they dont last as long. God bless always.

Hey LGM,
I'd have to say my favorite sticks are Pro-Mark 727's and Jazz, both made with Japanese Oak, they last forever!!
I'm also using:
Zildjian Trilok Gurtu Signatures
Pro-Mark Wire Brushes
Ahead Aluminum 7A Sticks

i have to agree with the comments about the zildjian sticks. all that i have tried have a terrible feel , almost no natural rebound to them and the dont last long at all. i have yet to find the perfect stick for me. so far i ve been pleased with the pro mark 7AN and 5AN. Hickory is good , but the japanese oak will last longer than my grandma. they are very durable. vic firth is pretty good too.

I use Vater 8A and also Vater John Blackwell Jia(formerly know as the Matrix)...those are my best...there are both similiar..
Vic Firth Steve Gadd(for practice and spare0
Rutes
I'll name the rest la'er coz I can't remember them

i personally use 5a's. i usually play vic firth bit lately momey has been tight so i ordered a brick of Nova stix from musicians friend. they surprisingly last long and don't break hardly at all. i highly recomend them for the drummer with very little money. they come in nylon and wood tip too!!! 7a 5a 5b 2b hope this helps......
