This is something I've been working on lately.
Post a Left hand chord and a run that you like to do over it.
#1:
Lh: F-G-Bb-Db
Rh Run (downward run):
F, Eb, Db, C, Bb, G, (repeat)
Fingering: 4-3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2-1 etc.
#2:
Lh: E-G-A-C
Rh Run (downward run):
C pentatonic scale:
C, A, G, E, D, (repeat)
Fingering: 5-3-2-1-2-1-3-2-1-2-1-3-2-1-2-1 etc.

Thanks Rjthakid!
I appreciate these runs. In fact, I've found a song where the run given in the first example fits perfectly!
As my right hand is descending with that run, F, Eb, Db, C, Bb, G, when I hit that final "G" note, I play a
"Gdim7" chord in my left hand, (G-Bb-Db-Fb) / G, then I resolve it to an "Fmin" chord which is the
number 1 chord, and the key which the song is written in.
Thanks again, BroAllan :)

Thanx Kid :)
I need to try these out & come up with something as well.

Thanks
I remember the first really "cool" thing i learned when i first began practicing piano was version of #2. Oldest trick in my book :) I swear i can do it (pentatonic scale) insanely quick in A-minor but I'm crap at it in other keys :D
I like do this upwards movement instead with LH: A-C-E and rh: C-D-E-D-E-G-E-G-A-G-A-C-A-C-D (Repeat)
1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-(Repeat)
Practice it some in Aminor and you will have a blazing quick run that works in pretty much every "white" key 8)

Here's one.. it's called the "Cry Me A River" lick in jazz not the J. Timberlake but the one by Cole Porter
#1:
Lh: E-Ab-Bb-D# C7 #9 b13 or Calt
Rh Run (downward run):
Eb, Db, Ab, E, Eb, Db, C
#9, b9, #5, 3, #9, b9, 1 - Scale numbers relative to C major scale
Fingering: 5-4-2-1-3-2-1
On that C, resolve to FMin or FMaj
In this video on YouTube this guy does it at the 1:09 mark over a Galt F-Ab-B-Eb / Bb, Ab, Eb, B, Bb, Ab, G to resolve to CMaj7

Thanks for the help guys! Runs are not my specialty but this really helps me ALOT ;)

Thanks a lot for these ideas.
Could someone maybe give a more high level definition of chords/runs ideas,
for instance in a 1-2-3-5 progression, you can use scale xyz on the 5 chord...
or something like this.
Thanks

Example #2 that RJ posted originally and the example guybrush posted are using the pentatonic scale...
degree I, II, III, V, & VI of the major scale
You can play these notes over most chords in LH or chord progression you are playing and you will not go wrong.
Welcome to LGM guybrush & tek_uk

"You can play these notes over most chords in LH or chord progression you are playing and you will not go wrong."
Granted the "Key" of the pentatonic scale you are using is the same "Key" as LH chords/progression you're playing...

I see now that I have got to get out of te lounge and come in here with yall master's of american music.
I will be printing this out and trying it for myself. Looking at the clip that DaNatiMaestro put up, I'm wondering what kind of techniques can give me the dexterity to make runs like that. I can chord like crazy, but my runs need some help.

[/glow]
I've always...& i truly mean ALWAYS!! wanted to learn to play incorporate such runs into my playing (perhaps that's why I wanted to learn the organ at 1 point).
Sometimes the guy at church plays runs for about 15 seconds as an intro before the choir sings & the audience will already be wild!!
I got2 practise these 8)
Thanx guys.
