I think you can, there's a point where it becomes ridiculous. I've seen where directors even go up too many times for the choir, and half the choir is not even singing any more. You'd think they'd realize that in practice.
Exactly. Every song (and choir) has its breaking point. I don't care what kind of range you have. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. ;)
This is something that I have to constantly deal with 'cause I sing in a high-tenor range for a guy...not quite Israel Houghton-high but close.
The ladies get upset with me sometimes...the men don't want nothing to do with me and they look at me funny...what's a man to do?! ;D
It is funny though when you see a brother standing in the soprano or alto section and not near the males in the choir. lol We have a brother at my church that sings alto. He gets aggrevating sometimes though because he sing over all the altos. I hate when people in certain section sing over everybody else.

Can you say SELF-BLAST?
Uh, so what are you trying to say???? ?/?
Don't try to squash MY gift from the Lord. >:( >:( ;D :D ;D :D
I know, I know. But, I try my best to blend. No really, I do. Not my fault folks are afraid to sing out to the Lord and edify God's people.

that P&W leaders or MOMs can modulate a song too far?
I can understand being the Spirit of worship or praise, but can't enough be enough? I mean, while you may be able to hit that note, what about the folks in the congregation who can't? Are they supposed to just sit andwatch, I mean worship?
I was just wondering.
maybe at a midnight musical but not on sundays or conferences/convacation
Can you say SELF-BLAST?
Yep! Everybody ain't Judith McAllister. ;D
When I saw this post, this is the first artist I thought of. Kurt Carr came in a close second.
How 'bout Hezekiah? He might not take it to a range that we can't touch, but sometimes he does get boring...
