Man them sticks are $2.50 out here. I get Vater Power 5As for $4.50 all day. Any size I want, all day. Now,  after I recieve my package from Los Cabos I can't Speak on Vater anymore. I gonna start playing Los Cabos Jazz Hickory. There 16 1/4 inches in length and .574 in diameter. Try those.

This is what you do lil bro. Make them price match musician's friend's inventory. Print out the info. and take into the store.....  To be honest with you, they hate to see me coming. I'm such a jerk when I deal with them dudes at these music stores. But, if you're getting them at GC then they're jacking you. You got to speak up, and learn how to be shrewd with them boys. You can get Vaters, Vics, and Promarks for $ 5.00 a pair. Or at least $ 5.50... Or just holla at BBD. He got the plug.

I'm sure he meant the SD4...

DENNIS CHAMBERS SIGNATURE SERIES!!!!

Used to play these exclusively for a LONG time.

I've also been into the Vater John Blackwells and the 7a's.

But now I play the Ayotte Jazz Maples EXCLUSIVELY!!  They are great.  They are about the size of a modified 5A.  They have a small acorn tip and a short taper on the shaft.  They are made of maple instead of hickory.  that means that they are lighter than hickory sticks of the same size.  I really dig these sticks.

...look, seriously, go to the Music Store and try out each and every pair that they have.  Your hands will tell you what you're going to like.  I've played Pro Mark all the way to Zildjians' and I have a favorite pair for all the different Stick Makers.

...just go out and try 'em all.  I bet you'll end up with at least 3 different pairs when you're done.

Regal Tip 5A sticks, yall probably haven't heard of them...

I was referring to this part of your sentence.  Additionally, it was joke, hence the 'lol'.

And, no, I didn't say that the only brand is Vic Firth or Pro-Mark - I'm not sure where derived that from through my reply to your post.  That's hot that you have a preference.  To answer your question, DW has me by 5y and Pearl by a long shot (1950, maybe?).  Then again, I never said, "Pearl or DW Drums, yall probably haven't heard of them..."  That was my sly way of saying, yeah bruh, I've (and probably a few more on the drummer's forum) are familiar with this company - after all, they are credited with using nylon tips first.

Chill out, mayne.  When you see the 'lol', just know that it's all in fun and jokes.  Even this 'lil man right here  ;D will denote a jokey-joke.

Looks like you need to check out the SD4's.
I was previously repping for those Vater 7A Manhattans but then I tried the SD4's & man those things have
a really nice feel & weight.

Question:

Why do you feel you need a lighter pair of sticks?
In orde to make an informed comment it would be good to know this info.

It could be possible that you be to concentrate more on hand/finger development... or you could need a stick wit ha more balanced weight distribution. Instead of the weight being in the butt of the stick you may need a top heavy stick or a blalanced stick like the Steward Copeland Standard. You may even just need to switch to the Maple Sweet Ride since maple is lighter than hickory but you keep the sae size/diameter.

I recently changed to the SD4's vic firth when the Dennis chambers sticks were out of stock.
I like em better than DC's

Pro-Mark Acid Jazz or the Maple Vater Fusions. I use Erskines too by the way, so their size and shapes of the tips are pretty comparable.

Man, you need to check out the Vater 7A Manhattans too. I like them cause their similar to the SD4s. Not identical. But similar... to me.

Check this site for details: http://www.vater.com/newproducts/product.cfm?M=1

I like the Manhattan & the SD4 because they're lighter than the generic 5a/5b sticks. That's really important for me cause I prefer to use my wrist
so the lighter the stick the better for me. I also like that both sticks can give me light nuances whenever I need to play light.

I prefer the wood tip models so although I may lose clarity, off the bat without having nylon tips, I just believe that if my technique is right I can get the stick to give me as much I clarity as I need (Plus I just like the sound of wood tips anyway... it doesn't sound like metal on metal).

as soon as i touched the SD4's i was like man these feel good in my hands now its hard to pick up the Dennis Chambers sticks... Maybe the Vater 7A manhattans are better than the SD4's i try it out

edough, there is nothing the same about Manhattans & SD4s. What I like is that they are both pretty light & have a good (although different) taper & tips.

I prefer the wood tips because of the wooden sound on the cymbals. There's more & I don't have much time.
By the way the SD4s are the lightest of the two & have a "soft" feel to it. Where as the Manhattan has a light but "solid" feel.

Hope this makes sense.

If you still like the feel of the Peter Erskines but just want a different stick check out the Vater Sweet Ride.   I feel in love with these the first tried them out.

http://www.vater.com/newproducts/product.cfm?M=21

Extra small round tip produces outstanding clarity on cymbals. Great for Jazz settings.

L 16" D .530"
VHSRW

These have tips that are pretty much the same size as the Peter Erskines.....
