When someone post a chorded song and you want in a different key would you bring it up or down for example if a song is in Gb and you want it in Db would you go up to Db or Down to Db just a question?

Hi stalindadrummer! Here's my thoughts on this: The choice to go up or down when transposing a song depends on the sound that you're getting compared to what you looking for... One thing to remember
is that the chord in its inversion may give you a little different sound. Playing too many notes on the lower
register of the keyboard might make a chord sound "muddy"; on the other hand, playing chords on the
upper register has a more "tinny" sound. So my suggestion is to find the register on the piano or keyboard
that sounds good, and play the inversion of the chord that sounds right to you, and you're on your way!!
Hope this helps you... BroAllan

It really doesn't matter which way you go, you can go up or down. My advice is which ever way is faster to get to, that's the way you go. Either way, I would say learn it in all keys then you won't have to go through this. Let's use what you have as an example, going from Gb to Db:
Going up = Gb, G, Ab, A, Bb, C, Db (3 whole steps)
Going down = Gb, F, E, Db, D, Db (2 1/2 steps)
Judging from this, I would say go down to Db from Gb. Does that make sense? I hope it does.
