What are some of your favorite cadences?

In this instance, is a "cadence" the same as a "chord progression"?

Cadences can be chord progressions. However I tend to describe them as movements that can be done at the beginning or ending of a song. You normally will hear them in songs.

For example:
Key of F

FC    ACF
FD    BbDF
FEb   CEbF

And basically you can move the notes around in the scale of F to get different sounds. I hope this helps.

I vote you do a lecture and expand on some your favorites. My favorite ending on piano is not a gospel song. So, I'll hold back on that one. My favorite intro is not a gospel song either. I'll hold back on that one as well. I never really thought of them as cadences. Afer you describe cadence though, I guess they are.
