Video Games will help
« on: August 19, 2005, 06:43:10 AM »
Fellow Bass players in Christ you want to help with your timing, coordination, finger speed, focus on your instrument play video games that helps with those eras believe me it works really fast expecially when it comes to riff or if you do have the notes thrown at you once in a while you pick up songs faster and all this approach doesnt substitute prayer and practice but results come fast God Bless

not talking about grand theft auto lol thats a no no

why is gta a no no, bar the sex thing they stupidly included, its a good game. i'm sure we all enjoy mafia films, why not censor since by virtue of their sex, language and violence scenes, they're worse.....but without getting side tracked i don't see how suddenly playing games will increase those human factors you mentioned to a distinguishable degree. However studies have shown that vg playin kids have a slightly better eye hand coord then non vg playin kids. The best thing to do is just practice on your instrument. peace

Excactly man, consistency. This banning games issue has come out because stupid kids and adults claim to be following scenes from a video game when they carry out crimes. I remember when a little kid jumped out of a window thinking he could fly like superman and some kids reinacted the ear scene from resevoir dogs, i didnt here those films being deemed dangerous, most probably because the people in power round those days prob saw them as classics because they grew up with such films. I think in 40 years time the bannin video games issue won't be as prevelant as it is now since most of the people in power will have grown up with them.

I don't understand why a group of people will complain about a video game and certain kinds of music. But never say anything about some films and other kinds of music. Violence is what it is by any other name but in this case one is bad but the other is never mentioned.

I think the case against music is different mikegee , music is a much more powerful media form then video games. Music has the power to shape a person's life for instance, the church hymns you typically associate with the english church deter some people from attending because they can be quite flat. Its only when they hear gospel that they realise church music can be vibrant and start going again.

You have to give me an example of potentially bad music which no one speaks out against. We hear angry parents on anything which comes close to offensive hehe

Well fellow bass players there even was a study on how the best surgeons were the ones who play video games hand eye coordination
they were the most successful of all but lets be real i mean when you are talking about a game that promotes strong sexual content against a womans will to put it softly that is not of Godly form and shouldnt be crowding your mind if you want to stay holy and righteous and your kids at a early age shouldnt have those thoughts at all, because all i hear when I hear talk and conversations about this game is what you can do to prostitutes and take the money and kick her out on the curb people sometimes live fantasies out on a game it's crazy   <<<this guy takes over your mind if you are weak enough for him to do it I can immagine a person listenning to a certain type of music and playing this game at the same time with headphones on thos actions could actually come to life and that can be scary. I feel bad for todays youth

I hear you robbace, kids of today are exposed to explicit sex and violence and quite a young age nowadays. I remember the video games of my day were to crappy looking to portray any sense of real violence of sex but games are getting so lifelike, for example when i saw gran turismo 3's replay playing in a tv shop i thought i real race was occuring!!!! Some parents argue that their children will learn these bad traits from friends but i really do believe that parents and siblings are the most powerful role models in a child's life. We have to teach them by example.

Amen B3 :D

Robb,

Not sure if you can type but I type 85 to 90 words per minute.  It helps also!  I'm exspecially fast with my left hand.  I wonder why?   No doubt because of of my bass skills.  Truth be told is all glory goes to God.  In his infinite wisdome place me on a B3 next to my mother at an early age and by the age of 6 I was playin shout music for C.O.G.I.C and at the ripe age of 26 he gave me the chance of life time.  TO PICK UP THE BASS...
