I thought it might be helpful to start posting some basic music theory
principles that have helped me in my music.

I'm going to start very basic, and will expand on the thoughts one step at a time. If you are familiar with the following info, then just wait!
What I'd like to discuss today is half steps and whole steps.
Half steps are pretty easy-look at your keyboard, and any 2 notes that are right next door to each other are half steps. Bb to B natural, or B to C.
Whole steps are intervals that are made up of two half steps. Bb to C is an example-Bb to B natural is a half step, and B natural to C is a half step.
This is good stuff for you to think about for now. We'll get a little deeper next time.
