I don't have this song written out. But I tried to get a feel for this song off of pure memory.

Try playing this song in the Key of  (F)

Have been transcribing GMWA's version of this song, and need some help on the choir parts - their vocals are not very clear in places. Have been listening to other versions on YouTube, but most are slower, or have a different beat.

Val215's version is very close, and it's also in the African American Heritage Hymnal (#446), but only the Chorus, no verses or vamp, a bit different than the 80's GMWA recording. Since our Tenors can't get that high I am using the inverted open voicing from the Hymnal.

On the recording - the choir seems to anticipate or "jump" the downbeat on the first note of each phrase -

-Like-

Lord |       help me to Hold |  Out |

-Instead of (as in the Hymnal) -

| Lord help me to Hold |  Out |

The same thing seems to happen on the "Hold Out" vamp at the end of the song.
Would anyone have the GMWA book or sheet music for this?

Thanks in Advance,
:)
