follow up easy chord moves in F major/ Dmin
« on: March 04, 2015, 02:16:49 PM »

I was playing with a band yesterday and we hit
Lord I lift your name on high

When we got to the end
where the singer will cycle Lord I lift your name on high.

I took the progression to the Dmin Amin7, Gmin  Bbmaj9,  Db major9

After we vibed on this a while
I took it from Gmin7 to F6, Emin A7
Dmin

well the guitar player got lost
and for some reason couldnt get his mind on these chords

so i said he can just play two chords over this entire progression

Gdim7 and F6
alternating

then i went further
i told him to lower the Bb of the dim
which gives you A7
and said now you can cycle between
the F6 or the A7
while i play the G, F, E, A7

then i went one more step and had him cycle between
F#7 and the F6

this of course works because like we learned in my earlier posts on movement

these chords are all related to the diminished
they are the brothers and sisters of the diminished

see for yourself

F6 diminished chord is G dim
G dim has two brothers and two sisters
A7, C7 are the sisters
F#7 B7 are the brothers

they are all family and therefore play well together

thats all folks
To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word
