Val sorry to bother you.

I'm attempting to teach myself a few things but I don't think I am getting this song right.

I can play the song in my head but when I try to write it out I think I am using the wrong notes ...

would the notes be considered more dotted quarters or eight notes?

Here's a lead sheet in C I cobbled together some time ago - some of the chords are different, but it should give an idea of the timing...

The problem you're having ph is you don't have words lined up with their respective chords correctly. I would write it out on paper first, then try to make it into sheet music from there.

Good Job, you have a good ear.  Practice Rhythm Drills and you will be alright!

Here is a sample of the intro I came up with..... http://theodorediaz.wix.com/guitarandpianocharts#!oh-give-thanks-judith-mcallister/c17tf
