Well first off, for me since I play an octave higher than almost everybody I know, I can use the 16' and 5 5/8' drawbars without the chords sounding "muddy". But for talking settings, I just use the (16) by it's self, the (16-5-5/8-8), the (16-8) or the (16-8-4). For an upbeat song I use the first four drawbars, all or the main drawbars (16-8-4-2-1) or full. And for shouting I use full
My favorite is the 'Jimmy Smith' registration
This is it:
88 8000 000, Percussion On, Soft, Short, Third Harmonic.
V/C can be set to almost any setting with chorus; C3 is common, Leslie off (or slow).
Some folks add the last drawbar (
88 8000 006) to get a 'free' second sound. The top drawbar does not sound with the percussion On, so turning it off generates a new timbre, similar to the Silk setting. Also, some organists add partial or full 4th drawbar to add brightness I Use it to play leads, solos, and bright accompaniment.
