Piano Chart Converter/Transposer Website

Greetings all,

Last night I was hit with an inspirational idea and I spent all night finishing it up.  I'd like for the board to test it out and give me some feedback.  Hopefully it will be a blessing to you all.

The site is http://www.pianochartconverter.com/.  It takes those precious charts that we love so much and it transposes them into your desired key.  I hadn't seen this done anywhere and I figured that I'd use my talents as a web developer to help out.  I've been playing piano for about 3 months now (guitar and bass for 2 years) and this is something that I will use often so I figured why not share it with the world.  Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

P.S.  The DNS may not have propagated over the entire world wide web yet so if you can't hit the website just give it a day or so.  I literally started and finished this site today from idea to domain registration and site upload.  Enjoy!

Thanks for trying it out.  I'm going to run this song through and see where the errors might have occurred.  Right now it's really strict with what it allows.  All of the parameters have to match the file or it will give crazy results.

Ok, I found the issue

It's the lines like this

/ D

and

G-G, G, B / B-D, A, G world

I'm not handling commas and hyphens on the same line. 

I'll get to work on fixing that.

Hey, homey---I see you're from Louisiana also---I'm from Monroe--will be in New Orleans in Dec.  I'm not understanding your chart---I know it will help me, but just need to understand.  Can you help?

New updates!!!

- Handles Lyrics (lyrics must have a separator character)
- Added selection for lyrics separator
- Keeps the format of your original chart

So for betnich's to work he would have to add a separator character between the chart and the lyrics

Love the feedback.   I want to make this as user friendly as possible.   

@Lilfingers:  Sup neighbor?  What questions do you have specifically about the site?  Most chart questions can be answered on this site.  They are just a chorded out version of songs as the author interprets it. 

P.S.
Would anyone be interested in an iPhone app that saved your gospel charts kinda like iRealBook does for jazz standards?  If so, I'll get started on that next!!!

I am 90% finished with the Mac app that

1. Saves your charts to your computer
2. Transposes them with the click of a button
3. Categorizes the charts by song, chart arranger, and key
4. Allows you to print your charts at will

You'll have them where ever you can carry your computer.  iPhone and iPad app coming very soon as well!!!

Does any one know if there is a problem with the pianochartconverter/transposer website?  I have been unable to access this website for quite some time now.  I know it was down for a while earlier, but it was restored and worked really well.  It has been a real blessing to have.  Appreciate a response if anyone knows what is going on with it.

You may want to try to PM the original poster.  Not sure if he'll respond...hasn't logged in since April. I hope he brings it back as well. Very useful tool.
