Total Praise Inro
« on: June 29, 2013, 07:18:27 PM »
Hello All,

I am trying to find the name of the original song/composer of the intro to Total Praise by Richard Smallwood. I was thinking it was one of Beethoven's pieces.  Thanks so much for your help.

Richard Smallwood with Vision!"Prelude & Total Praise!"

I believe it just a variation on Total Praise.

I thought Richard composed it himself but I maybe I was wrong.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

It does sound like a Beethoven piece. The closest thing that came to my mind was the Sonata 8 in C (Pathetique).

(HD) Beethoven "Sonata Pathétique"- 2nd mvt Adagio cantabile

But there might be another one that fits as well. I have to go back and get my collection out. It's also very possible that this is an original arrangement, a take on the song "Total Praise" like GE suggested.

Whatever it is, it's very heavily influenced by Beethoven.

That's one of my favorite pieces. Also Chopin's nocturne in Eb.

Man. I haven't been in here in forever. But, to answer your question, the composer is Mervyn Warren. He's an original member of the group Take 6.

I think it's called the Total Praise Overture? It was originally written for this song.

I think to call it ripped from beethoven is unfair people have been doing that even before beethoven. I think its more acourate to say its in the style of "classical" or "bethoven" . All that chord is doing is during the amen portion of the song is going in and out minor and diminished voicings. Gospel cats live of those type of progressions but the way the approach the same chords are drastically different.
