Practice, Practice, Practice

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

James 1:22

I know that in order for me to be an excellent musician, I must exercise my skill by practicing on a regular basis.  Like the saying goes, great practice does make perfect.  Practicing builds up my endurance and it builds up my skill.

Moreover, If the athlete did not exercise then that person would not be effective on the playing field and would likely get benched for not performing up to level.  That is just like us in the kingdom of God.  If we do not practice our faith or exercise our faith then we will eventually wear out in the Kingdom.  We would not be able to handle all the things that come with living for Jesus.  This walk with the Lord is not a walk through the tulip garden.  It is a walk that is sometimes filled with trouble and despair.  However, if we hang on in there, we will receive a just reward.  That is why we should exercise our faith.  The more we exercise our faith, the stronger we become in the Lord.

Therefore, in whatever gift you have or in your walk with the Lord, begin to practice it.  Exercise on a regular basis and watch the power of God become radiant in your life.

Focus for Today: Concentrate on areas in your life that you believe God for. Begin today exercising your gift or calling.

Prayer

Dear Lord, we praise you for your goodness and your love.  Lord, give the motivation and the endurance to practice the faith that you have given us.  Lord, give us the fortitude to practice our gifting and callings.  In the name of Jesus, we pray and thank you.  Amen.
