what did you notice?
That guitar did not sound right. A string sound also sounded a little wierd. I assume you can probably sort some things out with tweaking. The organ sounds like it needs some work too. The keyboard sounds great though but I was talking out of the box no tweaking. No keyboard really has it all exact out of the box.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Apex- a bit off topic;on the Fantom-how do you access what Motif calls "Performance"?(s)  where you have drums grooves and stuff going on?

I might get to play one in a few weeks?

The Kronos does have some interesting  ideas;I wonder if Korg will ever do something like the M3; a "rack" version.

I don't think the Fantom has this by default.... with preset grooves etc... like motif arps or Korg Karma...

Yes, Doc, it does.  They are not as numerous as the Motif, nor(in my opinion)as good.  I don't recall the button that you push, but you then use the pads to call up the rhythms.  Each rhythm set had eight rhythms that were accessed by the upper eight pads.  The volume of the rhythm was determined by how hard you tapped the pad to turn it on. Of course, you could put your own rhythms in and have the pads access them.

You could go into rhythms and choose the set that you wanted to work with.  The button to access rhythms was just next to the voices button, just as on the yamaha xs.  The buttons are just not called voices and performances as I recall.

The thing I hate most about the korgs, is that when you scroll though the sound list, some sounds will automatically start playing drum beats. Is there a way to disable that or is there a mode that does not do that?

Combi mode is where you find that feature (korgs).  In program mode it doesn't really happen (unless you've saved a patch with a drum track).

But if you want to turn it off all you have to do is go into Global mode and turn off the DT/Karma feature.  That turns it off GLOBALLY no matter what mode you are in.  That way you don't have to worry about it happening period.  The actual setting is KARMA/DRUM TRACK  There is a check box.  If you want to turn it off just click the check box that say All Karma/DT off

Simple as that.

I wouldn't compare that to the arps or combi that the Motifs and the Korgs have though... those are just some rhythms that are in there to demo the RPS function of the fantom series boards.

here is another interesting video of the Korg Kronos in action and what it's capable of.... (think polyphony while you watch the first few sections of this)
