How do you feel about Christians dressing up as...
« on: December 23, 2011, 10:19:00 AM »
Santa? I was listening to the radio this morning and the woman was saying how this man received a lot of negative feedback from other Christians when he dressed up as Santa to hand out gifts at a Children's Home by request. Some callers said he could have handed out gifts without being Santa, telling the children about the true meaning of Christmas before handing out the gifts and some said he was doing a good deed so it doesn't matter and that they would have done the same thing if asked, holy ghost filled and all.

What say LGM?
Did you feed your spirit man today?

I don't have any feelings for or against it really. :-\

I wonder if those who complained have done any good deeds like that this year...

My feelings about Christmas and all its elements are really changing, and I'm not sure what to do with it.

But anyway, IRT the thread, I think my opinion is that if you're into Christmas-and-all-its-elements, then being into Santa kinda goes along with that, so I don't see anything wrong with it - for those who are into Christmas anyway.

I've got no problem with it.

I'm pretty sure it started in The Netherlands, and there were/are black people there. Santa's sidekick was black, his name was Zwarte Peit. :)

Why does there always have to be a black sidekick?

Actually what I meant.  But he wasnt a dark, Teddy Pendergrass lookin dude with a gray and black brillo pad beard.

On another note, its interesting what we stand for and dont care for. *noted*

I'm not in favor of it.  However, I approach the discussion like I do the discussion about whether or not Christians should drink or eat certain foods.  If a saint is weak in the faith, I'm not going to do or say anything that will be a stumbling block to them.

As long as people know the truth that there is no santa clause, I don't see what the big deal is.
