Christmas Songs
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:57:29 AM »
I'm an Ipod maniac now.  My wife REALLY  REALLY  :o liked your suggestions in the secular music thread.  Never really used music in the romance department.

We have a long road trip coming up at the end of the week (6 day cruise) so I figure that I can get up a nice list of Christmas songs through you guys before we shove off.  Please post some good suggestions that I might be able to find on YouTube.

The following has been ringing in my head for some days now when I came across it by mistake:

You can't go anywhere without Vince's 'Christmastime is Here'.

And, you may like some cuts from Israel's 'A timeless Christmas'.

Aretha Franklin's version of Christmas just ain't christmas (me and my four yr old's dance number)

Ledisi has a pretty decent christmas album titled "It's christmas"

I love any version of the christmas song (that's my favorite)

I even like The Isley's christmas album "I'll be home for Christmas" (I'm an Isley's die hard)

"Let it snow" Boyz II men (classic)

Musiq Soulchild's "Christmas Music" is pretty good

If you like blues B.B. King's "A Christmas Celebration of Hope" isn't too bad

That's everything I own as of now I'm a Chritmas music fanatic I still have a lot more to get but if you get these you'll have a pretty good start to a Christmas music collection

P.S. let us not forget anything Motown christmas and that's almost gold whatever you get especially if you like ole school

Sorry......I forgot one

Donny Hathaway or Chris Brown's version of "This Christmas" ( I think that's the right title) and honestly I recommend you get both they're definitely worth it

Maria Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You"; &

Kirk Franklin and the Family Christmas collection. I like Silent Night there.

That's my 2 cents' contribution..

There has not been a CD yet - before or after - that has taken the place of my favorite Christmas album, Kirk Franklin Christmas. #1 favorite of all time.

I also really, really love the Bebe & Cece Christmas album.

I haven't heard the entire album, but I love Donald Lawrence's take on one of my favorite carols "Carol of the Bells."

I downloaded one last year on U13's recommendation. Can't remember whose album, but I remember liking it a lot. I'll look in my iPod later.

My friend produced a short album (2 songs, 2 instrumental tracks) for Christmas and I just listened to a track from it... OMG. I don't usually recommend stuff, but I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I didn't recommend this one. This joint is SMOKING! Derrick Stevenson is FIYAH.

My two favorite Christmas albums are Ledisi's "It's Christmas" (the singing she does on this album...smh) and Israel Houghton's "Timeless Christmas". I blast those joints year 'round.
