A few months before Hurricane Katrina, we were able to perform "The Piano Lesson" at the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre. It was the first All-Black cast in the theatre's history and it was a huge success. The new theatre was just rebuilt last year and I want to try to perform another play. I wrote a small skit for our church's Christmas Program & the kids blew me away. Especially one kid that was labeled "bad". I think that he is just bored. His examples haven't been that great during his life either. He is very talented and was observant of everything that took place in the production and he is only 10. So I want to try to start an annual tradition of putting on excellent productions featuring the unused black talent in the community. So if any of you know of any productions with good roles for young people, then let me know. I'm hoping that in 2013, that I'll be able to write one.
Right now, the only play that I can think of is Fences.
