Bass Player needing Keyboard Players Opinion
« on: November 29, 2011, 10:16:24 AM »
Keys, please let me know if this is how you would prefer a bass player to play this intro with you. The name of this song is "What A Mighty God We Serve" by Vickie Winans. It is old school. The intro is only keys, but our keyboard player wants me to play this part with him. Please give help.

Being a bassist and a keyboardist: i think it would sound great if you play the bass along with the melody in the higher register.

I would say play the same chord progression the bass player on the video does - Bb  Eb  Ab  Db  Gb  F A Bb...would work for the beginning...

DFWKeys I think you may be right. It would help with the melody. I am going to try that. Thanks

Betnich, I assume you probably did not know I am the bassist on the video. I was not sure if what I did in the video would cut it and I wanted to get perspective from Key board players. Thanks for the input.

oops, my bad.  :-[

Good job on the video. I like how you held off on the first few measures' intro - but if your keys player wants you to come in with them, then by all means try that...

Seeing it's classical you could try a counter melody mixed with bass. Can the keyboard player play like the CD?
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

I wish I had the skill to come up with a counter melody, Im going to try it though, lol..lol. No, the Key board player does not play like this..lol..lol..he wishes.  We are all intermediate players and use each other to help carry a song. I assume this is why he wanted me to play with him because he would not be able to do it like the CD to make it more fuller.
