Progressions Practice Routine #2

Here’s another progression that you can practice anytime you get to a keyboard. This one is found in a few gospel songs and is great as a turnaround or vamp of a song.

2-3-4-5-4-3-6-2 progression
Key C  LH/RH

D / Ab-C-D-F (2)
E / G-C-E (3)
F / Ab-C-D-F (4)
G / G-C-E (5)
F / G-B-D (4)
/ G, A
E / D-G-Bb (3)
A / Bb-C#-E-G (6)
D / Ab-C-D-F (2)
(repeat)

You can try different rhythms, different speeds, different timings etc. for some added practice. A by all means, please learn this in every key. Off the top of my head, a couple of songs that use this progression are:

“Thirsty” Marvin Sapp (during the part where they repeat oh, oh I’m thirsty before going into the last part)

“You Are My Joy” Tye Tribbett (during the part before the shout at the end)
Real musicians play in every key!!!
Music Theory, da numbers work!

If you've gone through Progressions Practice Routine #1, some of these chords should be familiar. Here are some that may not be:

F / G-B-D: G major chord with F in the bass, G/F

E / D-G-Bb: E minor 7th chord with a b5 or E half diminished, Em7(b5)

A / Bb-C#-E-G: A dominant 7th chord with b9, A7(b9)

Real musicians play in every key!!!
Music Theory, da numbers work!

Wow- T finally shares these chords.

You know, I've looked at all chords you've posted- you've posted variations of all sweet progressions, but it's the first time you post one of my favorite progressions.
We sing many songs with this progression around here. thanks man!!

Below are just a few of the tons of variations I use [depending on a song and number of iterations]:

G# / F-B-D-(G) (#5)
A / Bb-C#-E-G (6)
D / Ab-C-D-F (2)
(repeat)

OR
