Tony Royster is the reason I had difficulty making such a statement.  Tony matches Chris skill for skill (arguably has more skill(s)).  I know we don't really define the best per say in this forum when we consider all the qualities that a quality drummers possess.  I just made the statement for argument sake to see who others consider "The Best Drummer in the World."  However, when it comes to skill set and those qualities we consider that a drummer must possess Chris and Tony are at the top of the list (1 and 2 in whatever order).  Who else must we consider for this list that I missed?  Looking to SabianKnight for answers.  Stay Blessed, Nate J.

UMM....I recently discovered Jojo Mayer and Johnny Rabb. In my list, I have Tony first and Jojo second. I don't really have a third. I haven't listened to enough of Rabb's material.  I guess I will say my "personal" third is Cora Coleman. I love the way she uses a lot of rudiments and she is a female...so these are my personal reasons. I know there are drummers who have better skills than Cora, but she is one of the drummers that influence my style...along with Jojo.

I agree as far as Chris is concerned. To me, his playing is more musical. I don't hear music when I listen to Jojo Mayer's solos. When Chris plays, it's as if I can hear the melody (through his playing) that he hears when he's playing his solos. That's just me...
