Help a rookie piano player get better
« on: September 02, 2011, 03:22:02 PM »
Ok im a beginner trying to learn the piano so i can play in church and when i say beginner i do mean beginner  im just starting out. I know the C D F G major scales and A E D minor scales and thats all i know about piano lol. I think i emailed tblock a question about chord progressions a few months back but i forgot my password and couldnt get back into my previous account lol so i had to create a new one. But my question is ( this might sound dumb) how do i practice chord progressions? I've been messing around with the C F G major and A minor chords for a couple weeks but im still slow at switching positions and i still dont know when to hit what chord  at what time. So im wondering if you guys can help me with chord progressions and how to practice them so i can play better.

Welcome to LGM.  ;D  A lot of what you seek is at the General Music Hangout.

Also, there is a search function at the top of the page.  Here's a search that may help you.

 - Search for "chord progressions"
 - uncheck the box for Check All
 - Click Choose a board to search in, or search all
 - check the boxes for General Music Hangout and Gospel Keyboard / Piano

Most of what you're looking for may be in the General Music Hangout, but some stuff on progressions may be in the Gospel Keyboard / Piano.

I hope this helps. :)
