"I'm Still Here - Mississippi Mass Choir"
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:23:26 PM »
Does anyone have the chords to this song?

Sounds kind of simple even though I'm not able to transcribe songs yet.

It sounds like it is in the key of Db.....is that correct?

Thanks
God Bless

Here are the lyrics to the song:

I'm Still Here lyrics

Chorus
Oh I'm still here
Still here
(I'm) Kept by mercy and grace
I'm still here
Yes I'm still here
Still here
I won't complain
I'm still here
(repeat)

It's not the good that I have done
So many things I left undone
But in spite of all that
(look at somebody and tell them)
I got the victory
It's grace and mercy keeping me

Oh I'm still here
Still here
(I'm) Kept by mercy and grace
I'm still here
Yes I'm still here
Still here
I won't complain
I won't complain
I won't complain
I won't complain
I'm still here

Still here
I'm still here
Still here
I'm still here
Still here
I'm still here
Still here
I'm still here
(repeat as directed)

Oh I'm still here
Still here
Kept by mercy and grace
I'm still here
Yes I'm still here...
God Bless

I am also in need of help with this song. I have not developed the ear training skills to hear the (bass) progression.

Yea, thanks PCH. I tried to rent your "Chords in C" video tutorial on youtube, but it doesn't seem to be
working. Google checkout won't load.

I think it's just that video is not loading. I tried another video and it went into
checkout. Did you take the "C video tutorial" down. I sure would like to have it.

I'm trying to become proficient in C.  ;)

Thanks Tj.....these are the same chords that I have been practicing from your "C chords tutorial video".
Goes without saying that you are a man of your word. You stated in the video, that if those chords were
mastered, they could be applied to a variety of songs.

Great work my friend!!!

You are beginning to see the Matrix now!  ;)  Whether the song is gospel, country, r&b, middle eastern, asian, etc......no matter how complex or simple.....practically every song is built upon the simple building blocks of CHORDS. The difference between each song only being that the chords are placed in different sequences and the rhythms are different, and the melodies are unique, but the bottom line is that the foundation are simply basic chords.

Once you understand that concept, it makes learning songs 10x faster (and 10x funner too!).  I'm glad to hear its coming together for you!

If you are new to the key of "C", I would recommend continue learning other songs in that key to "lock-in" those chords. The more you play them in different songs, the better your ear will become in hearing the chords on your own.....and it won't be long before you are dissecting your own songs, and you won't need tutorial videos any more  ;)

Below is a list of songs that are in the key of C....or at least START in the key of C. Some of them change keys during the song. But you can at least get started with all of these. And of course, all of these are songs that I show you how to play, just look on my  YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/PianoClubHouse) and use the search box on the far right to find what song you are looking for.

I would recommend starting with I BELIEVE I CAN FLY and then moving on to IMAGINE ME, and then running through anything else you like. Enjoy, and let me know your progress

BLESS THE LORD WITH ME (Darwin Hobbs)
DON'T LET GO (James Ingram)
ENTER IN (Joe Pace)
EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT (Douglas Miller)

I BELIEVE I CAN FLY (R. Kelly)
I JUST CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU (Michael Jackson)
IMAGINE ME (Kirk Franklin)
JUST COME (Joe Pace)
MORE THAN I CAN BEAR (Kirk Franklin)
OH HAPPY DAY (traditional)
OLD RUGGED CROSS (traditional)
PASS ME NOT (Douglas Miller)
POWER (Douglas Miller)
SAY IT (Voices Of Theory)
SONG OF CONSECRATION (Ron Winans)
