What's it about, Malthumb?
It's a classic "closed room mystery". In this case, a closed island mystery. A crime has occurred. There is a finite number of suspects that could have committed the crime, but 40 years later,it remains unsolved. The point I'm at in the book has the two main protagonists, the ones likely solve the mystery, identified, though they have yet to meet each other. Both are VERY flawed individuals. The male protagonist has failed at marriage and has an"arrangement" with his female business partner and her husband (refer to picture in my last post). The female protagonist and title character is a woman in her late 20s who physically looks like a goth pre-teen but has some deeply rooted emotional issues. At the point I'm at in the book, she allows herself to be victimized by a legal guardian who has control over her finances (refer to picture in my last post).
The man whose relative was the victim of the crime is paying the male protagonist an unreal sum of money to try to solve the mystery and at the same time, write the man's biography, including detail on his dysfunctional family, many of whom are suspects.
