Whats your favorite or nice chord to play on the 1?

Whats up family. I was sitting here thinking of a way to help our fellow musicians. To help them expand they chord vocabulary. So I came up with this, Lets post our favorite or nice chord on each tone or scale degree.

We will start on the 1

For example....


Key of F

LH/RH

(1) F C / A C D E G

(1) F/ A D / G C F

Lets Go...in the Key of F!!!!!

Key of Eb

Eb Bb F / C F A

A basic little jazzy ending. Helps if you hit the Bb melody note before landing on the chord. (I'm not at a keyboard, so I hope I spelled the chord out right).

Im posting from my phone so forgive the way this looks. This is the way I play the 1 in a 5-1-4 progression in the key of F........ (5)CGBb/EbGBbD  (1)FCEb/GADF   (4)BbFG/ACDFA

move the F to the bass player....then A D/ G C F (nice open sound)

Try to stay in the spirit of the post ya'lll.....

(1) keep it in "F" and
(2) just put your favorite chord over the 1(F).  Lets try not to complicate it with too much........not entire progressions or your whole aresenal of chords on the 1.....he simply asked for your favorite chord (singular).

This is an awesome post, and can be the start of some exponential learning for current and future members of all skill levels! But lets try to keep it on point for ease of use. Just my .02, sorry.

Anways, my favorite is below.



A minor 7th, 2nd inversion (over F in the bass, of course)
E-G-A-C

I asked Ray if it was ok if I posted the whole progression and he said it was. If that offended you then thats a personal problem that you have. I personally have done nothing wrong but try to post something that I know for once. Yes I did say that was my two cents and I dont apologize for it one bit. . .

RJ corrected the first brotha for not postin' in "F" as he requested in the original topic, so i followed his lead in trying to keep things on topic. Simple as that.  Your post didn't offend me at all, i was just tryin' to respect the topic.

I would post, but I really don't have a favorite chord that I play on the 1. All I can do is offer some nice 1 chords, which defeats the purpose of the thread.

Hey Ray J, u might wanna rethink us only posting our favorite chord come some of us might not have one. How about we just give some nice chord options for the one? Then, I can participate.
