Lookin for options
« on: March 30, 2011, 09:19:04 AM »
I have a MIM Fender Jazz 5 Deluxe that i wanted to sell. Found out recently that the truss rod in the neck is pretty much done. Bass sounds great but needs a new neck. I could just replace the neck and sell it, but i'd rather just deduct the cost of a new neck off the price and let the buyer be bothered with all that.

But it just dawned on me, I might just outright trade for a cheap 5'er to have on hand as a loaner (or the 6 string Ibanez Gio GSR206, which is about $200 used/$250 new, which i wanted to get as a tester project bass) since Im getting by other basses modded and may not want to lend them out.

Anyone interested??? I'd probably outright sell the Fender at $225, since they go for around $400 used and a replacement neck starts at $180.

Given the condition of the neck, if you can work that trade, I think you'd be ahead.  Especially since it looks like you are going to pick up something like the Gio anyway.

If you can't work the direct trade, I think an honest craigslist ad and $225 is very fair.  Of course the market will determine that, but $225 should get some people contacting you I'd think.

somebody posted that Ibanez Gio on craigslist for $100. i contacted the guy yesterday about the offer, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. hopefully it hasnt been sold. if i can get that at that price, i wont be so in a rush to dump the Fender, so if it takes a while to get it off my hands i wouldnt mind.
