Is it this one?

The Williams Brothers and Stevie Wonder - "I'm Too Close" LIVE

Here's an older version, from the 1950's...

The Davis Sisters feat. Ruth Davis- "Too Close To Heaven"

Too Close To Heaven
written by Alex Bradford
(as recorded by the Davis Sisters)

Verse 1 -

I’m too close to Heaven, to my journey's end,

I'm too close to turn back in a world of sin,

I would’nt take nothing for my journey now,

Just gotta make it to heaven somehow -

Too close to Heaven, I’ve gotta leave this world of strife,

I’ve worked hard, Lord, and I wanna e, e-ternal life,

Too close to Heaven, I’m too close to turn around - , turn around.

Verse 2 -
Oh - yeah, I'm so close to heaven, I can almost see His face,
So close to heaven, I love His amazing grace,
Too close, I get a feeling people a-wait for me,
He loved me so, one day He died just for me,
So close, Mother’s waiting over the hill,
And they tell me, Im’a have no more rocks and rills,
Too close, to turn around.

(not in recording)
I'm so close because He's holding my hand,
and I know He will lead me to the promised land.

Hey Josh941, i have a suggestion for you that may help you out.  I understand you are "hungry" to learn new songs, as is evident by the almost daily requests that start out with "i need chords bad!" Don't get me wrong, i like the fire, but I think you may be going about it the wrong way.

My first suggestion is that rather than trying to get your personal playlist songs chorded out one by one, take a look at the seemingly endless list of songs that ALREADY EXIST here on the site.  LGM members have put in a lot of work and effort to put those songs together. Here is a quick link to several of the major lists of chorded songs that are available here:  http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,63195.0.html

If you are playing for a group or a church choir and you have some say in what songs are selected, try to steer towards some that are already available for you to begin practicing and learning. The way you have been presenting your requests here make it seem like you need them by 7pm that night for a rehearsal or something....lol.

Secondly, it looks like you are fairly new here (i'm actually not that far behind you), but this forum is not just a bulletin board, but rather a community....an online "home" to many.  With that being said, it wouldn't hurt to get involved, and say hello once in awhile.  Of course its not required, but more or less its just a courtesy that may get you more help than you've been getting up until now.

SPeaking as a new member, this is an awesome community, and you have definitely come to the right place to enhance your musicianship. I would just tone it down a bit and see what all the community has to offer!

Best Regards,
Tj.

Well said, Bro. TJ.  Welcome, Josh!

Thanx Nessa. I actually just saw this post in the Chords area, which is solid advice as well......not to mention, try posting the Chord requests in the Chord Request category. It kind of makes things easier for the Moderators and for those trying to help out.
