i come to find myself always playing only one or two inversions of a chord regardless of what key im in or what the previous/next chord is, so i probably do more moving around than i should, but thats the way im comfortable for now. i guess its time. I always played with my 7th and 9th on the bottom because thats how my teacher showed me how to easily construct those chords from the major triad, so i got used to playing some of them that way. To me they sound sweet regardless of the inversions.
Ma1ne, im still trying to wrap my head around that BbMaj9 to BbMin9. using both types of chords off the same root? it sounded so hot when i played it, so today i'll start exploring ways to use it and incorporate it into my playing.
