I know I am a bit late on this discovery, but I was not aware that Brother Larry Jones was no longer a part of the YOLNADA MORNING SHOW. Admittedly, I have not been a regular listener...partially do to my schedule...and partially due to issue I've had with the show and overall gospel programming offered by Radio1. However, while I did not know who Larry Jones was when the show first started out or why his name was attached to the show, I've really enjoyed him as a part of that YMS crew and thought he was indeed a bright spot...a voice of reason if you will...to the show.
At first I thought he might have been away due to health issues that he's mentioned he's had in the past. However, I decided to goggle it and read that his contract had not been renewed by Syndication1 (Radio1).....and that's it. It was never obviously ever mentioned by Yolanda or the show. In other words...he just disappeared...no farewell...no acknowledgment of his contributions....NOTHING.
My first disappointment lies with his absence. Brother Larry Jones is missed.
Secondly, I am disappointed in how this was handled. Yes, I know this is a business decision and it happens all the time. But this is "suppose" to be a gospel radio program. Must we operate like the world in order to fit in or should be operate under a higher standard? If we operate in the latter, it would seem to bme that we just don't let folks just disappear pretending as if they never existed. We don't move on without any kind of expanation. Even if Brother Larry Jones had to go some kind of acknowledgement should have been paid to this man in some kind of way....some kind of farewell show would have been more than appropriate. I mean I know YOLANDA is tha name on the show...she came into this with no radio background and he was obviously brought in becasue of his extensive background in radio.
I wish him well...and pray that God has something greater in store for him.
