The above link comments about a study that says distracted drivers are more likely to be well educated. Of course there are a number of confounding issues with the methodology used for the study, but it still says what we all know.

Please don't drive and play on your cellphone. I have to remind myself of this all the time. Especially since my radio in my car doesn't work so sometimes I use my blackberry to play music.

People of more means just seem to be more attached to their phones, bluetooth in ear, can't live without them, lol.  They have all of those features, and 24 hour accessibility for co-workers, church workers, friends, you name it.  It's hard to dial it back when you're so used to responding instantly to that email or text chime... I'm retraining myself to not drop everything and respond to the phone whenever it makes a noise.  It's not healthy to be ruled by that tiny object, lol.

People are so dominated that no matter who they're in the room with, they will interrupt them to talk on the phone with someone else.  The phone conversation doesn't even have to be more important.  Even if the roles were switched and the person on the phone was in the room, they'd interrupt them to talk to the person on the phone.  That makes absolutely no sense, but I know people like this.

I had to do something about my habit as well.  Everytime the phone buzzed, I was on it.  I now keep my phone on silent when I am at work and then when I'm not, I have it customized to do the following:

Ring whenever I get a call
Make a noise if my wife, family, or close friends text/BBM me.

Otherwise, it makes no noise and I'll get it when I take a look at my phone.

This seems to work very well for me and definitely helps with my driving while texting issue. :)
