Hello all!
I am a beginner bassist. I am hoping someone will enlightening me on the key of two easter songs and maybe break down the basic bass portion of it? Two songs, These Nails by Donald Lawrence and They Didn't Know by Kurt Carr.

Ironically, when I look through my iTunes list, these songs are consecutively placed among my 5,000+ songs.
"These Nails" is doable. Try to hum along to the baseline. Then try to find a couple of the notes on your bass to help you establish a pattern. This song has a pretty strong pattern. Once you find it, you'll unlock most of the song. I'm at work, so I can't listen to it enough to tell you now what key it's in, but maybe later this evening I can do that.
I'm surprised that someone is asking a beginning bassist to learn "They Didn't Know". From a technical perspective, it's not difficult. No blazing solos or double thumping or superfast pentecostal walking patterns or anything like that. The structure of the song is very wide open with a lot of space for the musicians to stretch out. It does require a bassist who knows how to listen to what the other musicians are doing and how to interpret the key the song is in so that you know what note choices you have when. I'll listen to that one when I get home, too and see if there's anything I can tell you to help with that.
