listen to the horn parts in songs real or synthesized, lots of songs, and get some ideas from there. Stay away from big voicings, unless they are spaced out pretty good.  And learn how to use sus chords, they are very good for giiving a spacey, yet strong sound, without changing the harmony of what everyone else is doing. Since they dont have 3rds, it'll be easier to play something that sounds good but doesnt clash with your rhythm section.

Less is more....and octave off-beat stings are your friend...

(check out songs from groups like Tower of Power, Chicago and the BLUES BROTHERS on YouTube for ideas)

yo Bet,a la E,W+Fire? love the old stuff with trumpets in octaves;especially if you have the filter on the t-bones or saxes opening a little slower with a 'swell'effect.Nive full sound.

Chicago's still around aren't they, Bet.  I really liked them.(Earth Wind and Fire also). Incidently, I think they are still performing too.

Just kidding about Bet, Doc.(smile)  Personally, I passed 70 some years ago. 55 was a good year, and a good age as well.
